⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character:
Olaf
Age: 13 and/or a few days old. It’s a difficult question, mostly, seeing as originally Olaf was created by Elsa when she was around 8, and Anna 5, which would put him at 13 years since original creation. However, she only gave him life after the events of the coronation, and based on canon point would put him at a couple days old.
Canon: Frozen
Canon Point: Directly after Anna’s unfreezing and Elsa thawing Arendelle, so he has his own personal flurry that keeps him cold, no matter what the temperature surrounding him is.
Background:

Personality:

At first glance, one might believe Olaf to be naïve, and maybe even some would say dim, but the truth is that he is simply filled with childlike wonder. This is likely due to the fact that he was created originally by Elsa when she was just 8 for Anna who was 5, and therefore he was built with the childlike wonder and interest in the world.

He is curious about the world, especially about things he has yet to encounter, most prominently displayed throughout the film is his interest and excitement over summer. Being a snowman he, naturally, has never experienced summer, but he seems to have an idea of what happens during that, perhaps because he was imprinted with memories of how Elsa spends her summers. He doesn’t, however, realise that if he was to experience summer, he would melt. (And I’ll be doing whatever snow does in summer) He doesn’t connect that what snow does in summer is become water.

He is very friendly to everyone, and doesn’t quite understand why someone might think it weird that he’s a walking and talking snowman. He doesn’t react negatively to having his head thrown around when he first meets Anna and Kristoff, though he does want it to be returned to his body, and when sliding into town, even though Kristoff explicitly tells him to not talk to anyone, he greets the first person he meets.

Olaf is very caring of others, and is quick to warm to people. Though he remembers Elsa and knows she created him, he doesn’t seem to remember Anna, nor has he ever met Kristoff and Sven before. But he trusts them almost immediately, and goes with them to see Elsa, whom he believes to be beautiful and able to thaw the winter so he can see summer. This also indicates that he has a tendency to see the good in people, even when they can’t necessarily see the good in themselves.

In canon it is shown that Olaf is very protective of those whom he considers his friends. When Anna, Kristoff and Sven are being attacked by Marshmallow he does his best to try to stop him, though he is hardly effective as Marshmallow is many, many times larger than he is. But that doesn’t stop him, because he sees the treatment as unfair. Later, when Kristoff has taken Anna to the trolls he offers to work as a distraction as she runs away, in a way, sacrificing himself for her. He does this again when he builds a fire to warm her, even though that leads to him beginning to melt. (Some people are worth melthing for.

He is also very encouraging of his friends endeavours, whether it be encouraging Anna to go see Elsa, going to see the trolls, going to kiss Hans etc. If he believes that something good will come out of it, he is all for whatever it is.

Olaf is a dreamer, a lover, and a caregiver. He is curious and excitable, and he wants to know about the world and all its people.

Abilities:

❄ Seemingly impervious to pain, as shown when Kristoff pulls his arm off, he randomly separates body parts, and becomes impaled with no other reaction than Oh look, I’ve been impaled followed by a giggle.
❄ His bodyparts can separate and act independently of each other, his arm slaps Kristoff after he is prodding at it, and there are multiple instances where it is shown that his body moves without his head, and he can also rearrange his parts. His head, however, can’t get far without the rest of his body, as he does seem to need his legs to actually move, but he can still talk without it.

Other:
He will be arriving with his own personal cloud and flurry of snow, but that will only be effecting him and not his surroundings. However, if he does get too close to someone, they’ll feel a bit of a chill, just from what’s coming off him.

Third Person Sample:

Olaf hadn’t intended to wander as far as he did. The truth was, he hadn’t really intended to wander at all. He was just out for a stroll in the fresh air. He might pick some flowers, say hello to some of the villagers, and maybe see if he could find Sven… But then he had gotten lost in his thoughts, and ended up on the outskirts of Verens.

He liked the city. It was exciting, full of interesting people, and Elsa was there too. And how could he not like somewhere where Elsa was? He just wished more of his friends were there, but strangers were only friends he hadn’t made yet, and so he was never left feeling lonely. He had even gotten used to the amulet that he wore with him everywhere. It was shaped like a rock, and he had replaced the one that had originally been the top “button” on his person. It made it easy to make sure it didn’t get left behind anywhere, and from what he understood of it, losing it would be very bad, and so he didn’t want to do that.

It wasn’t until the ground under where he was to set his next step was gone that he was finally drawn from his thoughts, and with a gasp he quickly retreated back a few paces, away from the edge.

Curiosity always seemed to get the best of him, and he gently crept to the edge he had almost stepped out over. His eyes widened as he looked onto the landscape below. Of course it would have been a lot easier to see if he had had an icicle to use as a telescope, but he could still see that it looked…hot, was the only way to describe it. How could you get down there to see if it really was?

Olaf jumped up and started hurrying his way back into town. He had to tell someone. Did they know what was down there? Elsa might, and maybe she could make a staircase down, and they could go together. Not that he wanted to leave this place, but it was always exciting to see somewhere new. Who didn’t like to go exploring? Surely Elsa would want to come with him, but maybe he should bring something to use to convince here.

There was a beautiful meadow just before he got to town, and so Olaf stopped and picked a small bouquet of flowers. Pinks and yellows and blues all together, but mostly blues. Elsa liked blues. And then he was on his way again to find her. How could she say no to him now?

Questions: Not at the moment, no.
